Invitation to join Neighbourhood Greenwatch

I hope this email finds you well during these trying times.

My name is Ajay; I'm a member of the team organising Greenwatch 2020, a joint initiative between SG Climate Rally and Speak 4 Climate to highlight environmental and climate policy concerns during the upcoming General Elections. You may have seen recent media coverage of our project and our government scorecard assessing the incumbent's climate policies.

As we move closer towards the General Elections, the Greenwatch team is excited to launch our Neighbourhood Greenwatch initiative.
 

Neighbourhood Greenwatch is a community for climate-concerned voters of the same constituency to connect with one another, learn about climate issues during the 2020 election season, and organise collective action to push for ambitious climate commitments from their political candidates.

Within these groups, members will be able to coordinate mini-campaigns that target candidates for their constituency, demonstrating that climate change is a key issue to the electorate. In this manner, we can inspire candidates who are vying for votes in these constituencies to strengthen their commitment to climate action and push for better climate policies on their party platform.

Neighbourhood groups will be hosted on Slack and moderated by volunteers from the Greenwatch team, who will facilitate conversation, create a conducive space for participants to engage one another, and respond in a timely fashion to any issues that may arise.

By holding parliamentary candidates accountable for climate policies of their party platform, we will drive a sea change in political perception of climate issues from the bottom up, hoisting climate policy to the top of the political agenda. To succeed, a sufficiently large number of voices from every constituency must be brought to bear in this effort.
